Auditors Slip Up

Auditors had failed to detect shortcomings at securities dealers, the Australian Securities Commission said yesterday, announcing an education campaign to rectify the problem. Among the deficiencies were the failure by dealers to maintain a designated trust account, non-compliance with the financial conditions imposed on a licence, and retention of clients' money and securities contrary to licence conditions.
